Its interesting that President Bush said, the Democratic-led Congress shouldn't be telling the generals how to handle the Bush's Iraq war or micromanage his war. However, if the Republican-led Congress had done their job at the time, we wouldn't even be in this waror the resulting mess of this war.
General Shinseki said at the start of the war, several hundred thousand troops were needed, who listened to him? he was a general with knowledge of what was needed. Who was micromanaging then instead of the generals?
Donald Rumsfeld retired in shame rather ran out of office. Paul Wolfowitz is now at World Trade Bank causing another scandal. Gen Tommy Franks, nowretired supported Rumsfeld. Gen. Richard Myers is now retired. These folks escaped the fiasco they created or allowed to be created. Those, who were micromanaging the war into this quagmire we now have, have left the governement. The excuse, mistkaes were made, is an understatement as many soldiers and citizens have died needlessly. President Bush said we are fighting the global war on terror but we are in Iraq not Afghanistan where the terrorists are. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or terrorism we experienced. Since we have devoted all our resources to fighting in Iraq we arent fighting the global war on terror. President Bush and his co-horts actually think USA citizens can't see through their smoke screen.
The judgment of how many troops would be needed to invade Baghdad and secure the country in the months ahead should have been based on military knowledge. Months before the invasion, Shinseki, then the Army chief of staff, told the Senate Armed Service Committee that occupying Iraq would require "several hundred thousand troops," partly because of "the kinds of ethnic tensions that could lead to other problems."
Shinseki, the first Japanese-American to wear four stars, was the right man to ask that question, having successfully commanded the NATO peacekeeping force in Bosnia. However, his estimate was quickly denounced by Paul D. Wolfowitz, then Rumsfeld's deputy at the Pentagon, as "wildly off the mark," and the secretary repeated that sentiment. Shinseki was shunned and set for retirement; Rumsfeld did not attend his retirement ceremony.

Bush's New Definition of Victory in Iraq
Bush has simply defined "victory" as a decrease in sectarian violence, and doesn't really talk about the "strong ally" (or ally, period), or about the shining democracy that will make dictators across the Middle East tremble. Heck, we don't even care about car bombings, unemployment, a deadlocked Parliament, or refugees in the new picture of "success".
Robert Gates has even gone so far as to suggest that that Iraqis kicking us out would be considered "victory".

What was the Grand Plan of the Attorneys Purge?
As I research more and more on the attorneys purge, something is becoming painfully clear; not only, does President Bush and his thieves want Republicans "permanently" elected but, they also wanted Republicans to control all the money in USA. Rove put more planning into Attorneygate than Bush put into winning Bush's Iraq War.
Consider this, why Margaret Chiara got fired?
Finally, about the only thing that has appeared in the document dumps on Chiara pertain to her role in the NAIS.
And, as presumably-ousted USA Tom Heffelfinger pointed out, five out of the ousted USAs were on the NAIS.
Heffelfinger said he's been trying to understand why he might have been targeted. "The only thing I can think of is my advocacy on behalf of Native American issues," Heffelfinger said.
He noted that five of the eight U.S. attorneys who were fired had served on a subcommittee that works on American Indian issues; Heffelfinger had chaired the group.
Heffelfinger said he pushed aggressively -- without success -- for a seat on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee, which meets about monthly in Washington.
"It gives you direct access to the attorney general on a regular basis, not intermittently like I had," he said.
Of the dozen or so "subject matter committees" the U.S. attorneys have formed, the only one that never had a seat at the attorney general's table during in the Bush administration was the Native Americans issues subcommittee, Heffelfinger said. "And I thought that was inappropriate."
Well, Friday's document dump contains a good deal of support for this argument. But more importantly, it reveals certain behaviors on the part of Bill Mercer that suggest all sorts of things about the centrality of Native Americans to the USA purge. In this post, I'll just lay out the timeline. In a later post, I'll talk about Bill Mercer's role in all of this.
So here's the timeline:
February 14, 2006: Tom Heffelfinger, then chair of NAIS, resigns
May 9, 2006: Bill Mercer writes Kyle Sampson:
Have you filled the NAIS chairmanship? Chiara was Tom's vice, but she has limitations.
Sampson sends an email to Goodling stating he is 99% sure he hasn't appointed Chiara.
Goodling responds that,
Perhaps she just assumed it was hers after Tom left...
May 25, 2006: Judy Beeman in USAEO writes Goodling to say that she'll need to give Chiara a title for the AGAC summary; should she write "Acting Chair" of the NAIS?
Goodling responds:
Can Johnny [Sutton] handle when he calls to say they don't have any money for a subcomm mtg by just mentioning that he knows that AG is thinking about who to appoint, but that he knows she's on the list? Then you can send out your memo. Thanks.
From this exchange, we can conclude that:
Monica Goodling has absolutely no management ability, being unwilling to deal with this directly
DOJ wasn't going to provide budget for NAIS to meet
Johnny Sutton, a USA from TX being moved to DOJ, was asked to deal with this .
June 20, 2006: Chiara meets with Michael Battle, head of USAEO, regarding "WD/MI and NAIS,"--that is, her district, the Western District of Michigan, and NAIS.
October 22, 2006: Chiara writes Mercer to complain that EOUSA has backed out on its promise to fund Leslie Hagen as the primary liaison to NAIS.
I met with Dan Villegas. ... He informed me that he was no longer able to honor his previously stated commitment to renew Leslie Hagen's detail through which she primarily serves as liaison to NAIS and to federally recognized tribes and other Indian communities nationwide.

Bush's Scandals
1. Walter Reed outpatient treatment, poor living conditions, lack of caseworkers to oversee and facilitate patient care for amputees, brain injured, and psychologically disabled veterans; also out there the underfunding of the VA
2. Fired US attorneys, political appointees fired because they were insufficiently partisan. This was a typical Karl Rove operation. Monica "Loyalty oaths" Goodling senior counselor to Alberto Gonzales and liaison with the White House decides to plead the 5th before Congress, taking an indefinite leave of absence she eventually resigns; Kyle Sampson Gonzales's forgetful Chief of Staff contradicts Gonzales; Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty admits that he had misinformed Congress that the firings were for performance reasons. Gonzales in Congressional testimony April 19, 2007 said he didn't know 71 times. He didn't know who asked for the list (apparently he didn't and his subordinates have already denied it was them). He didn't know why some of the names were on the list, but he was sure that nothing improper was done.
3. Scooter Libby/Plamegate, perjury, obstruction of justice, outing a covert CIA agent, her cover, and contacts as political payback against her whistleblowing husband Joe Wilson; Patrick Fitzgerald at trial showed Cheney's guiding hand behind the outing and spoke of a "cloud" over the Vice President
4. Iraq: axis of evil, lack of preparation for occupation, looting, including the National Museum, too few troops, lack of training, lack of equipment, lack of securing loose Iraqi munitions, disbanding the Iraqi army, banning the Baathists, the CPA, cronyism, Paul Bremer, losing tons of money literally, lack of international inclusion in reconstruction and security, weak Constitution, formation of sectarian parties, weak government, denial of actual conditions in Iraq, ignoring 4 years of failed policies and the basic proposal of the Iraq Study Group to withdraw, escalating instead, continuing lack of any discernible mission
5. Afghanistan, transferring resources to Iraq before the job was finished, the results: a resurgent Taliban, continuing warlordism, and exploding opium production
6. Iran and saber rattling, axis of evil, lack of engagement, refusal to talk to, addressing the nuclear issue through threats, clumsy attempts to blame Iran for the debacle in Iraq and a failure to recognize their very real interests there.
7. North Korea, axis of evil, ditching the 1994 agreement because of dubious uranium program, the plutonium program which led to a fizzled first nuclear test, and something like a return to the 1994 agreement
8. Osama bin Laden, where are you? The blown opportunity at Tora Bora. Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and the roles of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in terrorism. Pakistan's intelligence service the ISI created the Taliban. The government of Pervez Musharraf continues to give it safe haven in Pakistan and its efforts against al Qaeda in Pakistan which do occur are limited and often timed to the visits of American dignitaries. The Saudis for their part fund radical madrassas throughout the Moslem world and have a domestic educational system run by the most extreme of their homegrown extremists. Saudi and Gulf oil dollars find their way to many terrorist groups as well as the Sunni insurgency in Iraq.
9. Civilian contractors; also no bid contracts; in Iraq Halliburton tainted food and water, overpriced gas; Blackwell use of private security contractors, what used to be called mercenaries, with little or no accountability
10. The Military Commissions Act: torture, indefinite detention, the end of habeas corpus, and kangaroo courts
11. Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, the destruction of New Orleans, FEMA and "Heck of a job, Brownie," lack of preparation, lack of emergency aid, slowness of reconstruction, Bush ignores for days then gives address from Jackson Square in New Orleans promising aid which never comes or much of which goes to politically connected outstate no bid contractors, disparity between response to Louisiana and Republican Trent Lott's Mississippi; Bush refuses to waive 10% state match for federal funds (waived in many previous disasters) increasing the bureaucratic paperwork, reducing aid to affected areas, and further slowing and complicating rebuilding.
12. Warrantless NSA wiretapping, data mining, flouting of FISA, the attempted Specter "compromise" to retroactively sanction NSA illegalities; despite previous abuses, April 10, 2007 NSA's current head John McConnell proposes changes to FISA to permit domestic surveillance of foreign nationals completely outside of FISA, extend from 3 days to one week surveillance without seeking FISA permission "in emergency situations," immunize telecoms, and extend FISA warrants from 120 days to one year
13. SWIFT surveillance of international financial transactions
14. Black prisons and extraordinary rendition to facilitate interrogation by torture
15. Homeland Security: white elephant (organization), black hole (money), Tom Ridge and threat levels, Michael Chertoff and general incompetence

Bush's Administration Sex Ring

Deputy Secretary of State Randall L. Tobias submitted his resignation Friday, one day after confirming to ABC News that he had been a customer of a Washington, D.C. escort service whose owner has been charged by federal prosecutors with running a prostitution operation. Tobias, 65, director of U.S. Foreign Assistance and administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), had previously served as the ambassador for the President's Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief.
ABC radio news reported that not only the clients of the DC Madam were being looked at, but so were the employees. They claimed some were women with important jobs in DC.
This could get really interesting, if it’s true.

The Pet Food Recall is spreading to your food
So yesterday we saw Blue Buffalo lambasting American Nutrition, Inc. for adding rice protein to products American Nutrition, Inc. (ANI) manufactured for Blue Buffalo WITHOUT the knowledge of Blue Buffalo. Today we are getting the FDA’s “firm” press release from Natural Balance echoing the same sentiments:
“It should be noted that the products being recalled were not formulated or labeled to contain rice protein concentrate. While the FDA is investigating this, current information indicates this error is a result of a manufacturing deviation by American Nutrition. Natural Balance is working with the FDA in this matter.”
It was bad enough to find out that imports from China of rice protein, wheat gluten, and corn gluten were obviously tainted with melamine (if not more), but now discovering (via Blue Buffalo and Natural Balance press releases) that American Nutrition, Inc. was adding rice protein WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE of the companies contracting ANI for pet food manufacturing has me really freaking out. How naive have we all been to assume that companies are “somewhat” ethical in their commitment to consumer safety, let alone ethical in their business practices with companies who contract with them, by actually manufacturing what said companies have agreed to as ingredients in their pet food formulas?
Weeks ago when I said that this pet food contamination debacle was just the tip of the iceberg, I TRULY had no idea it would uncover such blatant disregard for business ethics, safety of food, morality, and just plain old common sense. And that’s just in the pet food industry.
I am not surprised that FDA dropped the ball. Few government agencies have worked or is working under Bush. Most are inept, incompetent, or all out frauds. They are out to make the money off of cheap labor, ill educated, or other people's sufferings. Look at your tax dollars at work.
Folks this is all about money. Remember Walmart wanted "cheap" products and even labor to sell to the consumer cheaply. It waanted, rather demanded its suppliers to go to China if they wanted their products in Walmart's stores. So I ask you, is cheap products worth you health, your family's health?

A Satire on George Tenet
After hearing that George Tenet has written that there was never, a serious discussion leading to Iraq War in a book President Bush called all of his left over confidants for a meeting.
Here are the notes from that meeting:
George Bush: How can he do that to our administration? Good part that, he still likes me. What you think Condi?
Condi: Yes, Mr. President, we should call Alberto Gonzales and ask him, which US attorney will be ready to file law suite against George Tenet and recall US Medal of Freedom. First attorney who says no, we will have Alberto fire him and then first attorney that says yes, we will replace Alberto with him.
George Bush: That is good one Condi, you are always thinking ahead we kill two birds with one stone. Get rid of Alberto, recover Medal Freedom and go on to doing business like we always do.
Condi: No Sir, I will kill four birds with one stone, besides getting rid of Alberto, recovering Medal of Freedom, I will also get rid of Patrick J. Fitzgerald and promote Hariet Meir.
Cheney: That is so good Condi. Now, can you arrange for George Tenet and my Turkey hunting tour to a Texas ranch, where I can do the job or may be this time I should take him to TURKEY country and let someone else take care of him, so that he is silent for rest of his life. Last time, I took care of someone when he saw me kissing her; he has yet to tell someone.
Karl Rove: Mr. President, I am not feeling so well after all the money we were getting from Abram is drying up, all other places Democrats in control of congress are asking us questions, and we cannot no more give unsolicited business to KBR or Halliburton. George Tenet is making serious money on his book. May be I should also take off and then in next six month, I can be talk of the town, as if he is now.
George Bush: Karl, I know you are having hard time answering questions about Libby and Abraham and now this. Dick (Cheney), why do not we go and arrange a hunting fishing trip with Karl Rove, you and me. I can always ask to be excused to run to Crawford or another dignitary death or other VT type incident and you take care of any future problems.
This meeting is now adjourned.
